Winter Waterway originally started with lovely patterned ducks spotted at the Horniman Museum in London, but soon got diverted into a portrayal of canalside life. My assistant Claire lived on a narrowboat which was used to inspire both the boats. I love how cosy they look and how their owners decorate them – they seem to epitomise the warm glow of a home in the midst of a magical winter land-and-waterscape.
