This silk scarf is one of a Limited Edition of 50 hand printed to order in our London studio. It comes presented gift wrapped in a black and gold embossed box with a numbered signed card certifying provenance.
I am a great fan of the formal gardens of Italy with their cypress trees and topiary. They create such graphic patterns which complement the surrounding natural beauty of the countryside. This scarf is a stylised portrayal of these gardens with their spherical box bushes and tapered cypress trees.
The production of this piece involves the creation of a full-size hand-painted artwork as well as screen-making, dyeing, printing, washing and finishing. This is an extra-long design which has to be printed in two halves – one the reverse of the other – a complicated and time-consuming process.
The scarf shown here is printed in blue and cream on a grey-blue ground, with hemmed edges, fringed ends and a printed signature.
