This silk scarf is one of a Limited Edition of 50 hand printed to order in our London studio. It comes presented gift wrapped in a black and gold embossed box with a numbered signed card certifying provenance.
I found some beautiful images incorporating celestial bodies on the Public Domain Review website (a favourite of mine). They often feature fantastical concentric circles and rays of light emanating from the sun or the moon – regularly seen as a portent of doom in the 16th Century.
I used these as a starting point for this large scale design which I have named Sunburst. I wanted a design that worked even when the entire pattern is not visible. You can see are glimpses of radiating lines and spots before the huge overlapping circles are revealed.
The scarf shown here is printed in red and turquoise on a cream ground with hemmed edges, fringed ends and a printed signature.
